Rare Hand-Signed 1968 Pop Art Screen Print on Tin Babe Rainbow by Peter Blake RA

A vivid original 1968 screen print on tin by Peter Blake RA for Dodo Designs. One of the original run of 10,000, this rare print is one of 500 that were hand-signed by the artist. It is numbered 56/500 and signed Peter Blake in black felt tip. Very few of these signed versions survive. 
 
It is in good condition with some minor dents and a slight crease across the upper third. This is only noticeable when it catches reflected light. There is a slight scratch toward the lower right corner. There is no rust.
 
It depicts a vintage pop-era subject of Blake's imagination; Babe Rainbow the female wrestler. 
 
One of a highly coveted series, Babe Rainbow "is twenty-three years old and has broken her nose in the ring. She was born in New Cross, London and wrestles mainly in Europe and the USA as there have only been a few contests between lady wrestlers in London. She is the daughter of the notorious Doktor K Tortur."
 
The impression is stunning. It is inscribed with the artist name, title and maker to the reverse. Biographies of Babe Rainbow and Peter Blake are also provided.
