1960s Karuselli Lounge Chair In Ivory Leather by Yrjö Kukkapuro for Avarte

An original 1960s "Karuselli" lounge chair by Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro for Avarte Finland.
 
In clean vintage condition, this celebrated design classic combines amazing ergonomic shaping with sleek aesthetic style.
 
The ivory-coloured leather has no holes or tears, retaining its original form well. The foam is firm and supportive. The fibre glass frame and swivel are in good functional condition. Remnants of the maker label are visible to rear and underside.
 
Designed in 1964 this design quickly gained worldwide recognition. In 1966 Gio Ponti selected it for the cover of Domus magazine. British designer Sir Terence Conran declared it his favourite chair.
