1960s Italian Space-Age Extending Table "T92" by Gerli & Cristiani for Tecno
A striking 1960s Italian "model T92" dining table by Eugenio Gerli and Mario Cristiani for Tecno.
This design was nominated for the prestigious Compasso d’Oro prize in 1970. In deep burgundy lacquer, it has two square configurations, seating up to twelve when extended.
W & D (closed): 105cm
W & D (open): 148.5cm
Height: 73.5cm
It features an ingenious rotating expansion mechanism. The surface unfolds from a central pin by means of four "wings", which become the expanded surface. The chromed central hub sinks and rises to the correct height of the expanded table with the rotation that simultaneously provides support for the extension wings.
The surface sits on black powder-coated steel legs. The "Tecno" maker badge is affixed to the underside. It is in good vintage condition, with minor wear in keeping with vintage. The mechanism is in good working condition.
