A superb 1960s model 20-59 dining table by Peter Hvidt for Danish makers France & Son.
This versatile table features a richly grained teak surface and finely contoured legs, which adjust to support the two leaves. It is offset with brass detail in the orb hinges and support brackets beneath.
When fully extended it is oval in shape, seating eight. With one leaf down it seats four. With both leaves down it compacts to a narrow 45cm in width, serving as a sideboard. It is a striking piece in all configurations.
It has been subtly reconditioned, retaining the deep treacle colour that comes with vintage. The France & Son plaque is affixed to the underside.
