1930s Danish Art Deco Sofa By Frits Henningsen In Cuban Mahogany

A striking Danish 3-seater sofa in Cuban mahogany by Frits Henningsen.
 
In competition with his teacher Kaare Klint, Henningsen was one of the outstanding designers of the early 20th century. A central aim was to modernise and refine earlier 19th century designs.
 
This classic Henningsen design is both elegant and accommodating. It was produced circa 1930.
Upholstered in original green wool, the fabric is in good vintage condition, with minor variations in tone. The sprung seats are very comfortable.
 
It is in excellent structural condition. There are a few minor signs of age, but they do not detract from the sensational overall impression.
